For me, I don't really know how long it took since my old man taught me how to speak nippongo when I was still a kid...
It depends greatly on how interested you are, if you're really interested, then you'd learn fast enough.

Well I have been trying for about a month now but since I only have online resorces as well as subtitled and non-subtitled movies. My knowlage is moving at a slugs rate. I can speak a few sentances. But can only understand a few words here and there when spoken by someone fluent.

Well I have been trying for about two months and i only know word here and there and a few sentences nothing big. so i say forever to become fluent. i would be happy to speak it normally. lol
