Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool

for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -

1. EMERGENCY *

The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112.* If you find

yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an

emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to

establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number

112 can be dialled even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

2 Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?*

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call

someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the

person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the

mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from

having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be

hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other

"remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

3.Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important

call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a

reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will

restart

with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in

battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next

time.

4. How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following

digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to

your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your

phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them

this

code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the

thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You

probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever

stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would

be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Wow that is amazing. Im going to try all that and print this sheet out and save it. I don't think that stolen thing will help on all phones in the States because some people use carriers like Verizon and Sprint which use a different type of service. That car thing is cool and that extra battery life thing is cool. Im going to write down my phones number though. Cingular and all the Phone carriers should store those number incase the phone is stolen. I remember once my phone broke, and Cingular told me to push *#06# and give them the number.

Yep,I know about the restart thingy.. i always use that lol coz i know it since before.. hhehe coz my phone is nokia.
the new info.for me are #1,2,and 4.

I forgot how what numbers to press when you wanted to know when was ur phone created.. il try to remember..i guess it has 4 zeros i think.

I might get a new phone soon. I'll probably get the Sony Ericcson Z520A. I tried the car thing. The battery thing doesn't work on my Moto. I think there is a workaround to #4 that some people know. It is a good idea though to keep away the average phone stealer. I wonder if the phone carriers have the numbers on File or have any access to it.

Well here in my country.. Nokia is very famous and almost everyone here uses nokia so those info.s work here.

Here we have a ton of phone companies. We have LG, Motorola, Audiovox, Nokia, Sony Ericcson, Samsung, Pantech, Blackberry, Palm, HP, Danger and a few more.

Same here.. we got lots of brands but nokia seems to be the no.1 in here..
hmm maybe because of it's simplicity in how to operate it.. haha coz nokia phones are just easy compared to samsung and other brands..

And for nokia phones,if you would like to know when was ur phone created,just press *#0000#

it would show u the month/day/year and 2 other serial code.
Also,I know about when your signal is kinda low,just press # then OK
You would notice it would send a request.

I gues that's all I remember .. hhehe i forgot the others.

I thought it was only europe wide....

Note that in France (and I hate this), the 112 is only for foreigners who don't know the 5 different emergency number.... Yes 5, and I even don't know them

Depending of the type of emergency you need to call one of :
15 : medical emergency
17 : Police
18 : Firefighter
115 : social ermergency
119 : child abuse

If you don't know : dial 18

The 112 is available sincr 1197 in Europe, and connects you to a service, that redirect to one of these number : 15,17,18,115 or 119, french or possibly any of the other 25 other european country...

Using 112 on a cell/mobile phone, the ermergency service can't localized you geographically as any cell/mobile phone service.

19.2% of french people knows about 112. Almost no swiss people knows about it.
