Default How to choose the right mascara in every situation

Mascara can be the trickiest makeup to
apply. The goal, of course, is to
enhance your lashes so your eyes seem
bigger and brighter without evidence
of loads of mascara.

But mascara wands tend to be thick.

If you apply it with a heavy hand,
you'll end up with spider tentacles.
The most important rule: Don't rush!
Take your time to avoid clumping.

Mascara is one of the most essential
and versatile makeup products: It can
be worn alone for a subtle effect, or
combined with other makeup for
striking and noticeable results.

In choosing a mascara, you need to pay
particular attention to the size of
the mascara brush; the fuller and
longer your lashes, the thicker the
brush you need.

By contrast, if you have short or
sparse lashes best results will be
achieved with a smaller short-bristled
brush. A small brush also penetrates
the innermost and outermost lashes
effectively.

A teardrop-shaped brush helps curl
your lashes.

Next, decide whether you would prefer
to use waterproof or water-soluble
mascara.

Water-soluble is easier to remove
without eye makeup remover, thus
minimizing the amount of rubbing
around the eyes, which can lead to
saggy skin.

Waterproof mascara is a better choice
for athletes.

If you have very oily skin, it is
better to wear weatherproof rather
than waterproof mascara. Waterproof
mascara is soluble in oil and may
start running if in contact with any
oiliness from the skin.

Choose a mascara color according to
your hair color; brunettes should use
black to bring out their eyes, but
brown mascara will have a more natural
effect on fair-haired women.

Avoid choosing colored mascara if it
is to be worn with a conservative
outfit or in the workplace. However,
if you're planning to wear it for a
fun evening out, feel free to get
creative with different colors.

Pay attention to the texture of the
mascara itself. A thick mascara suits
those with long and voluminous lashes,
while a lighter more liquid mascara
works better on fine and short lashes.

If you have dark circles under your
eyes, do not apply mascara on the
lower lashes but focus on the upper
lashes instead.

Generally, unless you have absolutely
no visible line at all, I don't
recommend mascara for the lower
lashes; aside from the possibility
that it can drop down and smear under
the eye, it can also give you a
cartoon-like, Olive Oyl look.

If you must, though, apply sparingly,
directing the brush downward from
inner to outer edge.

If your lashes are long and strong,
only one coat of mascara should be
needed to enhance them.

But if your lashes are thin at the
tips then you need to do slightly more
work on them. But they would benefit
from a good quality mascara- this will
help to protect them.

For very thin or fragile lashes, it is
best to apply an extra coat; this
should be one that is hypoallergenic,
fiber-free and unfragranced.

Hypoallergenic mascaras are formulated
to reduce the odds of triggering an
allergic reaction.

Fragrances are known to be the most
aggressive allergy causing components
in cosmetics, so they are excluded
from hypoallergenic formulas.

In some people, ingredients other than
fragrances may create problems.
Testing is always a good idea to avoid
puffy, watery eyes.

Apply a small amount of mascara to the
back of your ear. If the area does not
get inflamed or itchy after a few
hours, the product is probably safe
for your eyes.

Mascara is just one of many different
elements that will compose your look
and enhance your beauty.

You owe it to yourself to learn more
about makeup strategies and tricks...

Once you master makeup, you'll know it
for the rest of your life... and you
can feel CONFIDENT that you look your
BEST
