Have a crush on your friend's ex?

Alright here'e the story, my old best friend sam(shes like a sorta maybe friend now) went out with this new student at our school, Dallas, and i hadn't know this until today, and i think he still likes her. so is it ok to crush on him or is it against some girl code(hah) or something?

Here's the girl rule that I usually hear- "Nothings wrong with crushing on him. If she's your best friend and she went out with him for a long time you shouldn't go out with him. If she's a good friend and went out with him for only a few days just warn her if you start dating. If she's your ex- best friend or sorta friend nothings wrong with it."

But screw the girl rule and so what you feel is right. If that girls stil your friend just try and make her understand if you do go out with him. Nothing's ever wrong with a crush in my opinion.

I agree. You can't help yourself if you like them.
But yeah, Idk, if your friends okay with you guys dating go for it.
But if you talk to her like every now and again, or it's just a hi bye thing every time you talk, then you have to decide whether your feelings or hers are more important to you.
That's what I think atleast.
