Do you follow what your parents tell you when it comes to matters of the heart or not?

The question is just out of confusion...since I know a lot of people who follow their heart rather than their parents...

I know I should but I don't. I'm smart enough to make my own decision when it comes to love and relationships. My mom can give advice and I'll listen but I still follow my heart. I trust myself enough to do that.

Plus, if I listened to my mom I wou;dn't date until I was done with college. And since I might want to become a lawyer that could be many years form now. My mom grew up in Haiti many years ago and she doesn't understand that its so different now. I'm not just going to have my first boyfriend when I'm done with school and marry my 2nd or 3rd bf. It didn't work out for her and it won't work out for me.

It depends on how you handle the situation.
If hiding those kinds of stuffs to your parents make you feel guilty and confortable then I think you're not suited to do that. Though, if you really wanted to hide about having bf,you really can.
